I believe you will have to use an FTP uploader such as FileZilla to place the xml file directly onto your server. You can find the ftp login details from your web hosting provider. If you can let us know the url to the specific Bing or Pinterest page you are referring to, we may be able to help further.

Please note: this only works for "self hosted" sites using the software from wordpress.org, not sites hosted on WordPress.com

Adding a Google Webmaster verification file Step by Step

Sign up for webmaster tools at Webmasters - Google
Go to the Add a Site button
Enter your website url and you will get this page:
Click on the link in step 1 and save the .html file to your hard drive
Open Filezilla and navigate to where you saved your file in the left window
Click on the Open the site manager button and enter your ftp credentials into Filezilla as given to you by your web hosting company
When done, click Connect
The file structure of your web server will open in the right hand window
Navigate to the top level of your site - which should be the folder named after your site URL
Drag the .html file from the left window to the right one
Now click the link in step 3 of the webmasters page to verify that the web page exists. If you get an error, check the folder you saved the html file in is the correct one.
Hit Verify and you're done!
